Mercury glass is admired for its antique and distressed age-worn look. Originally this poor mans silver was made into candlesticks and other household objects including Christmas ornaments. Nowadays the popular home decor retailers are selling everything from mercury glass pumpkins to finials and vases - and for a very hefty price! There are several ways you can recreate these classics here:
Bluebirdluxe - find and faux mercury glass - tutorial on how to paint a glass vase
Scapalicious Bytes: faux mercury glass (3 tutorials) - excellent post on mercury glass
My Backyard Eden: making faux mercury glass - silver leaf, leaf adhesive and sealer
Fro-Frugal: faux mercury glass pumpkins - with tin foil and modge podge
All Things Heart and Home: mercury glass pumpkins (not really!) - spray & craft paint

Heather! There you are. I was wondering where you went.
What a fabulous blog you've created. One stop browsing for particular items/crafts/diy's is a fantastic idea.
I'll link up to you if you don't mind.
