Headboards can be done up in so many ways - you can simply drape a rug (like above) over an existing headboard or get out the power tools and start from scratch. I say that if it fits behind your bed then it's a headboard! Have a look at some DIY headboards by bloggers, they have all done a beautiful job and have posted their tutorials:

Thank you for this round-up! We just bought a new mattress which, sadly, didn't fit our old bed frame, so now I'm considering DIYing a head board. Definitely some good ideas here!

All I can say is that we need a new headboard and these are great inspirations. I think I'm leaning toward a "tufted" one.

Headboards are great idea in making the space more attractive. These are great inspiration,and at a plus that they are eye candy. These will look good on my room; with pastel colors will brighten my mood every time. Love the tutorial!
