project: painting floors

DIY painted floors
{my kitchen}

That's my painted floor in our kitchen! We nailed down the boards ourselves and then I paint them with porch paint and then I seal them. Every year or so I repaint to match whatever window mistreatments are going on too. I just love our floors and so glad we've done them like this. Now, are you ready to be inspired to paint your own floors? Have a look at these bloggers posts and hopefully they inspire you to DIY your floors:

I too love painted floors, Heather! Your kitchen looks great! I painted the stairs in my garage, and the mudroom floor, and am so glad I did. I'd love to try a pattern one of these days.

I love the look of painted floors! How much fun is that for you to repaint to your window treatments? Good for you - what a great way to keep things fresh and new!

I love painted wood floors too. In my first home, for lack of $ I white washed our VERY old bedroom floor, it actually came out pretty good. Great pics, love the last one! Your floors look beautiful, Jen

I think painting is so refreshing once it is finished but the build up can be so ??? Thanks for the great DIY

I would absolutely love to have wood floors to paint a bright white. We have oak hardwood floors but it wouldn't be right to paint these ones ...... I would want a more rugged type of place to do it. Say a loft or something ....... oh could you imagine it??? Love the idea though.

Getting ready to do this myself but I'm having trouble deciding on color! Love the color in your kitchen..would you mind sharing what it is? Also a few more questions. Are white painted floors hard to keep up and does anyone know how well a red or redish color is to paint on a floor? I've read that red is one of the harder colors to do.

Thanks! Going to pin this post right now :)
