{stories of a house} my quote wall

quote wall - Inspire Me Heather blog
{inspire me}

We had this new wall built as part of our renovation going on and it goes from the old part of the house up to the new addition. I thought that it needed something, like wallpaper so I searched around Pinterest and found myself going in a completely different direction from DIY wallpaper and stenciling and found myself lost in these life quotes that are all over there. So I came up with this idea of printing out quotes and sticking them onto the wall.

I used inspiring quotes and life quotes - nothing too serious (with a couple swear words). I wanted it to be timeless and happy and silly. I used lyrics from favorite songs and quotes from movies and funny sayings my family has said. I also asked family members and friends for their favorite quotes so that anyone close to us had something on the wall too.

That first one there above "the promise" was one that my Son wrote and I scanned it, that one means the most to me.

{gluing the quotes on}
So basically what I did was get 4X6 photo paper for my printer and I bought a couple hundred of them. Using my computer I searched, saved, adjusted and then printed my quotes as 4X4's. Hubby went and drew straight lines 4 inches apart on the wall so I'd get them on straight. I stuck each 4X4 quote on with a glue stick careful of smoothing out glue lumps as I went along.

When all my quotes were stuck on good and it had dried (it took awhile...) I rolled two coats of Mod Podge in matte over the entire wall.

{and it's done!}
So far everyone that comes to visit thinks it's pretty cool. We often all sit on the stairs and read stuff and laugh. If you want to do this too I have some suggestions: paint the wall white first - I can see the paint colour in between some of my quote cards and then use a good glue stick - I went through three different brands of glue sticks and most of them were lumpy (I liked the Lepage School Glue Stick the best).

I'm making a blog page of quotes called Inspired Words as I really like them (they inspire me!!), I've set a goal to make and post one a day for the entire year and I've Pinned a lot of my favorite quotes here if you'd like to check them out too:
If you liked my story, may I suggest more in this series:
